This tranquil city home is a perfect blend of natural elements and contemporary aesthetics.
There is something categorically unique but hugely comforting about this pastel-coloured, earthy-toned apartment located right in the moderately quieter but bustling cityscape of New Mumbai. Suyash Mankame Design Studio has aimed to transform this 1200-square-foot three-bedroom-kitchen flat into a lush home with easy functionality complementing seamlessly with a timeless yet contemporary design language.
Comfort meets clean style: The entrance, living room and kitchen bring in good vibes
A grid-style mirror with an overhead panel of low-hanging lights at the entrance welcomes you into this beautiful abode! This space of the home is intentionally fuss-free and devoid of drama barring the main door mesh design created to match with the mandir jali in the living room.
The colonial-style sash band Gregorian windows of the L-shaped living area arrest attention. The sofa takes care of the surprise red aesthetic in this room. Natural plants placed against the backdrop of the bottled green panel set the tone of freshness, which is carried forward throughout the space. The veneer-finish television unit and contemporary boxed mandir with metal jali finish the design puzzle. The passage space is smartly used for wall storage with its centre highlighted by an eclectic wash basin.
The kitchen is built in white tones to be strictly functional whilst giving an illusion of space.
Rest and rewind: Step into the earthy retreats of the bedrooms!
A muted colour palette and clean linework are uniformly used across the project to bring out the freshness of this spacious flat. Diving head-first into its master bedroom one gets a sense of the classic simplicity of the space. The monochromatic jungle-themed wallpaper, intentional use of soft colours, and carefully crafted panelled headboard with mouldings define natural elegance.
The sole symmetrical Stone veneer headboard with its book-match natural texture along with the complementary flooring highlights the grandness of the master bedroom. A low-back chair and a mirror adjacent to the textured panel help enhance the aesthetics and elongate the room. The side table mirror opens into a dressing table with the other side kept open to improve the accessibility of the wardrobe. A simple laminate sheet is placed at an angle to create drama. This arrangement doubles up as additional storage. The wardrobe is purposefully structured in simple white and wooden inlays. The veneer finish doors comply with the groove pattern, uniform to the design of classic lines across the site.
The second bedroom ushers you in with its surprise red wall, assuring the charging of positive energies and good vibrations in the space. A soft board headboard adorning the bed with its barcode design line work proves an inspiration for an adjoining acrylic and foil laminate wardrobe with a similar line work which hides in a loft! A black-and-white wallpaper balances the vibrance and the subtle dark grey laminates used for the bed tie in the entire colour palette into a homogenous blend.
The back painted glass used as a backdrop of the study corner doubles up as a whiteboard, proving an excellent example of interactive furniture.
The third bedroom, a guest and storage room with an extended balcony, has been created with clean line work and a monochrome palette highlighting the beige, grey and stone laminates. But the bedroom's salient feature would most certainly be the floating Murphy Bed! The entire main wall has been broken into sections of closed and open niches and designed as storage space mainly concealing a cupboard and a foldable study table. A pop-up element shines through the maroon gold wallpaper adorning the wall opposite the bed.
